The National Security Service is a significant factor in the system for protecting national security. With the growing dynamics in the security environment, the importance of the NSO is also growing.
This was stated by the Head of State Rumen Radev in his greeting at the ceremony marking the 146th anniversary of the establishment of the Service. Rumen Radev pointed out that over the years since its establishment, the NSO has significantly contributed to strengthening state authority, and the Service has overcome numerous challenges and withstood deep political upheavals. The repeatedly reformed Service has proven to be a necessary element of Bulgarian statehood, the President also emphasized.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to the leadership of the National Security Service for the efforts to enhance the training of personnel, to improve working conditions, to raise the motivation and prestige of employees and to improve the material and technical base.
In his speech, Rumen Radev also thanked the officers, sergeants and employees of the National Security Service, who, despite the numerous challenges they face daily, continue to fulfill their public mission with honor, dignity, responsibility and dedication. The head of state also highlighted the contribution of veterans and previous leaders of the National Security Service to preserving and passing on its traditions and virtues through generations, as well as for continuing to stand with their names in support of it in the sporadic populist attempts to encroach on its authority, integrity and even existence.
The ceremony was also attended by Vice President Iliana Yotova, Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova and Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov. “I accept this as a sign of attention, shared care and state responsibility for your highly responsible activity“, said President Radev and expressed confidence that efforts to support the NSO will continue so that it can be adequate to the ever-growing challenges facing it.
