Ivan Takov: For me, any position of the BSP, outside the first political force, is not good news - 1

For me, any position of the BSP, outside the first political force, is not good news. This was stated by Ivan Takov, chairman of the organization of socialists in Sofia and deputy chairman of the National Council of the BSP. He commented on the data presented today from a survey by the sociological agency "Market Links", according to which the party retains its position as the fifth political force.

"None of us has any illusions that the BSP will become the first political force with a magic wand, said Ivan Takov. However, this should be our main goal. And all our work strategies should be subordinated to the implementation of this goal. Therefore, in my capacity as deputy chairman of the party with the portfolio of "Public Policies" at the beginning of the month, I submitted a very clear program of action to the Executive Bureau of the BSP. It also includes a reform of the tax system in the country. We can start immediately by setting a non-taxable minimum in the budget for 2026. Greece has already set a very good example in this direction. If we manage to fight for this, the most vulnerable social group in our society will have between 1,200 and 1,500 leva per year. For some, this may be a negligible amount, but for those in need, it is welcome. Especially in connection with the currency change from the beginning of next year and the fears of price increases.

Ivan Takov clarified that he is not talking about raising taxes in the country at all. "Usually in our country, when we talk about tax system reform, everyone's first association is: "They're going to raise taxes!". No, that's not the case. We're not talking about taxing labor at all. Our perspective is to think in the direction of taxing capital. Sole proprietors, small and family businesses do not fall into this category. It includes large corporations that praise the currency change from lev to euro and are happy that Bulgaria is entering the "club of the rich". Well, since we are entering the "club of the rich", let our tax system be like the one in the "club of the rich". And no, it's not about 40%, but let's at least comply with Europe's recommendation to us for a corporate tax of at least 15%".

The Deputy Chairman of the BSP revealed that the main strategic goal in the work plan, which he submitted to the Executive Bureau at the beginning of the month, is related to adding 100,000 potential new sympathizers of the socialist party within a year. "We are talking about the demographic segment 18-35 years old," he specified. - We are already working on preparing a targeted strategy, which is oriented towards an audience of 250,000 people. I see that Greece is an example in this regard as well. And they have taken care of the new generations as an arm. This is the path, it cannot be different. The BSP has had ideas in this direction for years, but so far we have not had the opportunity to implement them, since for the last 10 years we have mainly been in opposition. But I no longer see any reason not to work for young entrepreneurs up to 26 years of age to be exempt from profit tax. We have long had good proposals related to student loans, first home, first child... We are currently working hard in this direction and I am sure that politicians

Ivan Takov, who is also the chairman of the Standing Committee on Transport and Road Safety in the Sofia City Council, warned that municipal councilors and the Sofia Municipality administration should not ask for funds only from the state. "I hear from colleagues with whom we have worked well so far that the state was obliged to provide as much funds for transport as the Sofia Municipality provides. However, the state must take care of all municipalities in the country. Of course, I, as a Sofia municipal councilor, have a priority commitment to Sofia. But this does not mean that we should harm other cities in order to have something for ours. My philosophy is different, Ivan Takov commented to PIK TV. - In my work as a municipal councilor, I have always looked for ways to use the opportunities that the Sofia Municipal Council has as effectively as possible. I have very carefully and thoroughly familiarized myself with European programs and how they could help Sofia financially. Sofia Municipality has many opportunities to secure investments and in
