The Municipality of Plovdiv will have to pay 32,360 leva in compensation for the expropriation of a property of 184 sq.m. in the “South” area, at an initially set price of 6,649 leva. This was ruled by the Administrative Court in Plovdiv upon appealing the assessment of a property necessary for the junctions on the southern side of the breakthrough at the Central Station.

The property in question has an area of over 450 sq.m. and is located on the territory of the “Former carpentry and paper workshop”. It is owned by the company “Aleksin”, and by decision of the Municipal Council, 184 sq.m of it are needed for the junctions of the station's southern side, Trafficnews specifies.

The company has appealed the value of the expropriation, and after an expert report, the court stated that the fair price for it is 32,360 leva. The decision is not subject to appeal.

To implement all the connections on the southern side of the breach, it is necessary to expropriate over 85 properties. For the time being, the most important one is over 5 decares, which are owned by BDZ. The plot is located at the intersection of “Macedonia” Blvd. with “Dimitar Talev” and “Kaliakra”. So far, it has not been transferred to the Plovdiv Municipality, and in addition, the city authorities have not yet started procedures for designing the area. This could seriously jeopardize the permeability of the tunnel under the station, and in the "South" area, huge traffic jams could form around the "Todor Diev" stadium and the "Rodopi" bus station. This would practically render the entire infrastructure project meaningless. It is expected to be completed in the summer of 2026.
