Customs officers found nearly 100,000 euros undeclared in the driver's cab  - 1

Customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo Customs checkpoint found nearly 100,000 euros undeclared during an inspection of a truck leaving the country.

On September 16, 2025, a truck with Turkish registration arrived at the checkpoint. The driver - a Turkish citizen - declared that he was transporting goods from the Netherlands through Bulgaria to Turkey.

After conducting a risk analysis, customs officers selected the vehicle for a thorough customs inspection. During the inspection, inspectors discovered packages of euro banknotes hidden in the driver's cab in a factory cavity located between the bottom of the refrigerator drawer and its inner body. 99,970 euros were found, with a leva equivalent of 195,524 leva.

A pre-trial investigation has been initiated by an investigating customs inspector in the case, which is being conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office - Haskovo.

Since the beginning of the year, customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo Police Station have seized nearly 10,000,000 leva (5,112,918.81 euros) of undeclared currency.
