BGN 5,000 bail for the 22-year-old bus driver who killed a man and a woman in Burgas yesterday, the court ruled, BNT reported.

Zivko Bachvarov is accused of causing death by negligence. According to the prosecution, he did not correctly judge the lateral distance when passing pedestrians and pressed them against the trucks parked incorrectly on the pavement.

In the District Court - Burgas, the accused Zivko Bachvarov remained silent. The prosecutor's office insisted on the most severe measure "detention in custody"; because of a real danger that the accused driver will abscond. According to the driver's lawyer, Zhivko Bachvarov, the pedestrians were moving incorrectly on the roadway and the defense insisted on a lighter measure. In addition, the trucks in which the van crushed two of the three pedestrians were parked improperly on a sidewalk. A day after the accident, there was not a single truck at the crash site in the Northern Industrial Zone.

Several HGVs were parked on the pavement yesterday at the time of the incident despite the no road sign.

"As you see the sign placed, its area of effect is after it. The place where they parked is, according to the Road Traffic Regulations and by-laws, designated as a pavement. Periodic control is carried out by the "Traffic Police" authorities. precisely for this parking here, next to the free duty-free zone, and yesterday's established cars were sanctioned, said Senior Inspector Konstantin Vangelov, "Traffic Police" - ODMVR-Burgas.

Today at noon, relatives of those who died in the serious accident brought flowers to the scene of the accident. And they stated that they will seek justice.

"We will judge him. He will go out, but my sister won't. Yesterday I went to the plant and they personally told me that they put the camera on and saw that there was no car to block his path. They just said he was playing on the phone," explained Marin Zlatev, brother of the dead woman.

The van driver has a suspended driver's license. Auto technical and forensic expertise are yet to determine whether the 22-year-old driver was speeding at a speed limit of 50 km and whether he was using a mobile phone.

"Probably, it will be necessary to prepare other technical expertise. I mean the cell phone of the accused. And this is enshrined in the dispositive of the accusation, as the supervising prosecutor accepted that the loss of control over the vehicle was causally related to the resulting result," pointed out Georgi Chinev, District Prosecutor of Burgas.

If found guilty, the young man could receive from 5 to 15 years in prison.
