Former Deputy Mayor of Sofia Nikola Barbutov and expert Petar Rafailov remain in custody. This was decided by the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office minutes ago, quoted by "Focus".
The two were detained on charges of participating in an organized criminal group for the purpose of corruption.
According to the prosecutor's office, Barbutov exerted pressure on the mayors of "Lyulin" and "Mladost" to appoint experts to prepare documents for public procurements that would benefit certain companies. Petar Rafailov, in turn, was his assistant.
The judicial authority requested that the accused remain in custody on the grounds that they could influence the investigation.
