Actors must be flexible and adaptable , to be reincarnated in the various manifestations, to interpret someone else's text, but also to transform themselves.
This is what the actress Silvia Petkova said to radio "Focus".
Silvia Petkova is an actress who is recognizable both from series and films, as well as from the theater stage. Some of the films he has starred in are "Revolution Z“, "The Path of Honor“, "Ashes on the Sun“, "HDSP: Hunting of Small Predators“. She is an actress, also known for her voice – she has recorded dozens of audiobooks, including the Harry Potter series, and is one of the main voices in the novel "I don't feel like going out today" of Neda Uzunkoleva.
Her interest in voice work dates back to her student years at NATFIZ, where she prepared for a long time to work only with her voice – to dub movies and voice commercials. "I find it very interesting that here we are dealing with only one human sense.“ When audiobooks took off more seriously in Bulgaria, she was invited to advertise them on the market, and later included herself in their recordings. "Some great magic happened. It's just my favorite job. And I'm actually very interested in seeing what and how I can do to become even better at using my voice to instill the necessary emotions and feelings in the listener.“
According to her, there is a big difference between interpreting with your voice while reading a book and dubbing a movie. "It's entirely how I would present things, I'm the director in the audiobooks, while the other is the voiceover – you just have to say in Bulgarian what is already recorded,” she said and added that she is about to voice a Bulgarian animated feature film, in which she will fully recreate the image of the heroine with her voice.
Silvia Petkova explained that she likes all three types of art: theater, television and cinema, but in her theater it is the most exciting and scary, although in a good scary way. "But on the other hand, in front of the camera, somehow my confidence is a little greater, I am more curious to think about the whole when I shoot a film or a TV series. It's important to me to be true, organic and live the life of my character in that moment. For me, the depths are much more important, the communication is much more important, what we create is very important. I don't like the vanity of the profession and I wouldn't want it to become a part of my life,” she stressed.
The actress made an interesting comparison between the organization of Bulgarian and foreign productions, as the good organization, the budget and the discipline, according to her, distinguish a Hollywood set from the Bulgarian one. "When things are well planned and done, it is simply a pleasure for an actor to step on the field and give his best in such nice conditions,” she explained, adding that the Balkan familiarity and the frenzy of doing everything at the last minute also have their charm.
The director's attitude and approach to the actors both on the set and on the stage is important, and through his different methods and approaches, he gives an actor the opportunity to fully develop his potential and reveal the character of the character he embodies, the actress believes . "It has happened to me in the theater that, through a similar approach, unsuspected depths of experience have been taken out of me. It is a very personal thing between the director and the actor, and if the actor fully trusts the director, it would never become personal. He will always know for sure that this person is not doing anything bad right now, but wants to become the best. After all, when we become a team, we all want it to be the best. "I'm okay with these extremes, as long as they have a reason to happen and are useful for the final product in the end," she shared.
Silvia Petkova shared that in the fall she is coming to the premiere of the children's adventure film "Bendida's Children", where she is reincarnated as the goddess of hunting Bendida.
