36-year-old British actor Daniel Radcliffe sent a letter to Dominic McLaughlin, who will play Harry Potter in the series about the young wizard, Deadline reports, referring to the talk show "Good Morning, America".
Radcliffe played Harry Potter in the film series based on the books by J. K. Rowling.
„I hope you are having a wonderful time, even better than I ever did. "It was an amazing time, but I hope you have even better times," Radcliffe wrote in the letter.
The actor admitted that he wanted to hug the child actors in the upcoming series when he saw their photos. "They look so young. I look at them and think, 'This is crazy, I was acting at that age, too.'" But it's also incredibly sweet," Radcliffe added.
The series stars Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alistair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Locke Pratt as Draco Malfoy.
The role of Professor Dumbledore went to John Lithgow, winner of a Golden Globe, Emmy, and a Grammy and Oscar nominee. Lithgow is best known for his role as Winston Churchill in the television series The Crown (2016–2023). One of the actor's most recent notable works is the Oscar-winning film The Clave (2024).
Professor Snape will be played by Paapa Esiedu, who was nominated for an Emmy and a BAFTA for his role in The Expendables (2020). Some fans have criticized the casting of a black actor for the role of Severus Snape. In the books by J. J.K. Rowling, he is a thin man with an unhealthy pale complexion, a large crooked nose, and greasy, shoulder-length black hair. Many still consider Alan Rickman, who played Snape in the films, to be the ideal actor for the role. Rickman died in 2016 at the age of 69.
