The International Sport Fishing Association (IGFA) recognized a new world record for catching largemouth bass with gear weighing to 12 pounds (about five kilograms), radio station KSII reported.
The record was set by Lee Ann Powell from the American state of Texas. She managed to catch a largemouth bass weighing 5.53 kilograms.
To prove that her fish was indeed the biggest in the world, the woman spent a month filling out documents, photos of the fish and even a sample of the fishing rod, to the IGFA.
