If your dream of settling into a house nestled in the heart of the Tuscan countryside has been a mirage due to high real estate prices. Today, the regional authorities are offering up to 30,000 euros free of charge to deal with the demographic crisis in small mountain villages.
Emigration from rural areas does not miss Italy either, pushing residents to the big cities. The result - small villages with abandoned streets, a dying economy and houses that are falling apart.
After the shock measures of the Italian authorities, such as houses for one euro, Tuscany decided to sign a check to those willing to settle in deserted places. Applicants will receive between 10,000 and 30,000 euros to buy a house, as part of the “Mountain Homes” program.
Accommodation must take place in a village with less than 5,000 inhabitants, and financial participation must cover no more than 50% of the value of the purchase and renovation of the property. A mandatory condition is the conversion of the house into a permanent home. Vacation properties are not permitted.
All European citizens can benefit from the offer. The deadline for submitting documents is July 27. Potential applicants may visit the official website of the Province of Tuscany and complete the necessary forms online.
