A leopard killed its owner in a private zoo in Slovakia, DPA reported, quoted by NOVA.

Police in the central town of Banska Bystrica said the 63-year-old man was found in the leopard's enclosure in the nearby village of Yasenie “without any signs of life”.

Public broadcaster STVR reported that the victim ran the private zoo alone, keeping around 20 domestic and wild animals. The zoo has several species of monkeys, birds of prey and different breeds of dogs.

The man reportedly took care of the animals and visitors alone, causing concern among the villagers. Although regulations have been tightened recently, several small private zoos still operate in Slovakia.

There is no danger to local residents, the police said. The incident is under investigation.
