British prosecutors dismissed the charges against the American film producer and convicted of a sex crime in US Harvey Weinstein for indecently assaulting a woman in London in the mid-1990s and dropped the case, Sky News reported, quoted by plovdiv24 .bg.
Prosecutors said there was "no longer a realistic prospect of a conviction" after the woman was attacked in the mid-1990s.
London police announced in June 2022 that they were authorized to bring criminal charges against Weinstein for assaulting a woman in London between July and August 1996.
The American producer, who is 72, was found guilty of rape charges and sentenced to 23 years in prison by a court in New York in 2020. Weinstein's sentence was instrumental in the MeToo (MeToo) movement, in which women accused hundreds men from the entertainment industry, media, politics and other fields in sexual assault.
