Like her best friend Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez has become a billionaire this year, FOCUS reported.
The 32-year-old founder of Rare Beauty now has a net worth of $1.3 billion, Bloomberg reports, thanks in large part to the success of her beauty brand. Gomez, of course, has a long acting and music career behind her, which also contributes to her wealth.
But Rare Beauty, which Gomez launched four years ago, was the big game-changer and created much of her fortune.
Rare Beauty is valued at $2 billion.
Gomez put to rest rumors that he was considering selling the company in April, saying during his conversation with Time100: "I just enjoy my job too much.
She shared her thoughts on entering the cosmetics world: "Personally, I felt there was a very unrealistic standard when it came to the cosmetics world, and it makes me a little sad for my generation and for anyone who watches something that probably edited and made to look good. I just wanted to break this down. I don't know how to do makeup, but I have a makeup line. Terrible at it.
Gomez doesn't share that she doesn't want Rare Beauty products to make people "feel like they have to look a certain way, they don't have to change the shape of their face." I wanted you to feel good when you use my products. And all of our products are named after uplifting things, from our Find Comfort line to all things mind, body and soul. We try to be very conscious of even naming the products to evoke joy or simply to discover ourselves. So I really wanted to make makeup that was fun for people. I don't believe I have to look a certain way. I've spent years trying to do it, and it's just exhausting, a waste of time.
Gomez's girlfriend Taylor Swift made the Forbes billionaires list in April with a net worth of $1.1 billion at the time. Swift, remarkably, accomplished the feat without her own company, just through the success of her music and the Eras Tour.
