A golden eagle attacked a baby in Norway today. His mother and a neighbor tried to drive the bird away until finally a forester arrived and killed it, AFP reported, citing BTA, citing local media.
The girl, 20 months old, was playing on the family's farm in central Norway's Trøndelag region when the eagle swooped down on her. The child's father told public broadcaster ENR Co that he was left with claw-scratched face after the incident and needed stitches on the back of his head.
„The eagle came out of nowhere and grabbed our youngest daughter,” said the father, whose name has not been released.
„Her mother jumped and managed to grab the bird, but had to fight with it to let the child go. A neighbor also came to help her and our little girl”, he added.
Forestist Per Kare Winterdahl, who killed the eagle, told EN Air Co that the bird took the little girl as “prey”.
He stated that the mother and the neighbor were able to free the baby from the golden eagle, but “it kept coming back”, even though “the neighbor was pushing it away with a stick”.
