In the month of May 2019, during the 72nd session of the World Health Assembly, 194 WHO member states united and designated September 17 as World Patient Safety Day.
It will be celebrated annually under the heading: “Patient safety: a global health priority”.
World Patient Safety Day will help patients be more aware and engaged in their own health. It will raise awareness among healthcare opinion leaders, healthcare workers and other key stakeholders of the need to formulate policies, create a work culture and deliver care where patient safety is a priority.
