A crocodile sneaked into the kitchen of an eight-month pregnant woman, dragged her underwater and killed her, reports the Daily Mail.
28-year-old Munira was preparing dinner in her flooded stilt house.
The crocodile took advantage of the river's rise after the heavy rains and swam imperceptibly to the young woman in the murky water, then grabbed her by the leg.
Munira's sister heard screams and came to her aid, but the crocodile managed to drag the victim underwater. Half an hour later, locals found the woman's remains in the Mambulu River.
"She couldn't survive - the crocodile dragged her out of the kitchen," said local police chief Supriadi.
Experts point to a worrying trend: last year, 179 crocodile attacks were recorded in Indonesia, 92 of which were fatal. The reason is said to be the reduction in the reptiles' natural food supplies due to fishing and the destruction of their habitat.
