Italian authorities have charged a 57-year-old man with animal cruelty after he bathed his dog at a car wash, BNR reported.
The daily newspaper "La Stampa" and regional Piedmont electronic publications reported on the shocking initiative of a man from the town of Biella to take care of his pet in this way.
The case became known thanks to a citizen who filmed the incident and handed over his video recording to the carabinieri. The images show how a tied-up small dog is first lathered with active car foam and then rinsed with a high-pressure hose, a practice that constitutes cruel and unacceptable treatment of an animal.
The perpetrator of the act was quickly identified. The dog, equipped with a standard microchip, was examined by a veterinarian "and fortunately turned out to be in good health", specifies the online publication "Il Biellese". The man has been charged under the Penal Code for animal abuse and abandonment.
