One of the greatest tennis players in the history of sports - Rafael Nadal, announced that he does not see himself as a tennis coach in the coming years, BTA reported.
Thus, he will not follow the example of other Spanish tennis players, such as Carlos Moya and Juan Carlos Ferrero, who successfully retrained as coaches.
"I don't know, it's hard to say. I don't see myself as a coach today. There are many other things that I have to think about, but it's certain that tennis is a big part of my life. This is my life now, I don't know what will happen in three or four years," Nadal said in an interview for his own podcast Pro-Health.
"I no longer have a daily routine like before. After so many years of dedicating myself to the same thing, now it's a period of trying different things and seeing what I like more or less. My adaptation was quick and I'm happy, but I have to build a routine again. Now I'm here, then there's another event, tomorrow I have matches," explained the Spaniard, who has 22 Grand Slam titles.
"Before I woke up with an alarm clock, now I have a child who wakes me up in the morning. Normally I train between 8:30 and 10 in the morning. I realize that if I leave it for later, he will always find an excuse not to do it and I prefer to start the day with sports," Rafael added.
"I like to pick up the child from school and I do it every time I can. I have always been a person who loves children and that was a dream for me. Now I have different responsibilities. I used to think that I could play golf four or five times a week, but I prefer to be at home and do it much less often," he reveals.
"I always liked golf as a recreational sport and with minimal risk of injuries. I also like to play football, but there is a high risk of injuries there. I hadn't played football for 15 years. Now I play again sometimes, but badly or at least as much as I can", admits Nadal.
"I like to cook things that I like to eat - fish, fish soup, fish with rice. Especially when we are with friends at the sea. I go to the sea when I can. It brings me rest. If I am at sea for two days, I lose touch with everything, which is wonderful. It gives me a sense of peace and freedom, which helps me a lot", also says Nadal, who has a record 14 titles at "Roland Garros".
"In Spain, we were a special generation of athletes, which is difficult to repeat. I realize that people watched football, tennis, basketball, Formula 1 every weekend. It was a time when sport brought great joy in Spain. I was lucky enough to be a fan at the World Cup final in South Africa," the former tennis player recalled.
"It's important to have goals, I don't like waking up every morning without having any responsibility. Only goals allow you to enjoy your free time. The effort to achieve something makes you happy. I like to keep working and learning new things and I hope I can grow as a person in every sense," Rafael Nadal also said.
