PFC Botev Association: The club's net debt actually exceeds 6,871,284 leva

The "PFK Botev" Association announced that the debt of Botev (Plovdiv) is above the announced amount of nearly 5.5 million leva, BNR reported.

The organization issued an official statement after the invitation from the football club's management to check the accounting data and announced that after their check, the club's net debt actually exceeds 6,871,284 leva.

"Dear Botev fans,

In connection with the request sent to the "PFK Botev" Association invitation from the management of PFC “Botev Plovdiv“ AD for “verification of the received accounting data“ we state the following:

At the initiative of the club, a joint working group was established with the participation of representatives of PFC “Botev“ AD, the Association and a potential benefactor - Mr. Iliyan Filipov. The goal of this group was to obtain current accounting and financial data that would serve as a basis for negotiations and rehabilitation of the club.

According to the reports presented at that time, the net liabilities of PFC “Botev Plovdiv“ AD as of 20.06.2025 amounted to 5,484,980 BGN.

On 24.06.2025, at the end of the working day, the club sent a new report electronically with values differing from those provided within the working group. After comparing the two sets of data, inconsistencies were found that cast doubt on their reliability and completeness.

After additional analysis, in which we also took into account the remuneration and social security obligations due as of 31.07.2025, the club's net debt actually exceeds 6,871,284 BGN, of which:

• Around 830,000 BGN are additional salaries and social security payments due by 31.07.2025;

• Part of the so-called “assets“ specified by the club (incl. 558,298 leva club assets), cannot be classified as liquid assets and do not constitute real collateral.

• Around 185,000 leva are the approximate value of the NRA declaration, deadline for submission 25.06.2025.

Based on the above:

• The “PFC Botev“ Association has neither the authority nor the capacity to certify accounting or financial data. This is the exclusive competence of registered auditors according to the Accountancy Act and other applicable regulatory acts.

• There is a discrepancy between the data presented at the meeting and the subsequent report, which undermines confidence in the transparency of the process and hinders the conduct of serious negotiations.

The “PFC Botev“ Association remains consistent in its commitment to transparency, accountability and protection of the long-term interests of the club and its community.
