The note from Iran has provoked a number of comments, which were mainly aimed at whether it should be made public or not. I agree with the opinion that not every note is made public. This is a diplomatic channel through which communication between two countries takes place. However, the question we need to ask ourselves here is what our reaction to this note was. Our Foreign Ministry refrained - there was a reaction to the incident only now, during the press conference and the statement of Minister Nadezhda Neynski. At the same time, it is logical to ask ourselves whether this reaction was not caused precisely by the disclosure of the note. He announced this to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACTI“ and the program “Conversation“ diplomat Angel Orbetsov.
„What happens - the note was transmitted through diplomatic channels, and the answer comes from the public domain. Moreover, the answer that was given does not affect the issues raised in the note. Bulgaria says that we are not participating in the war in Iran, that military aircraft do not fly over Bulgarian territory to strike Iran, and that such aircraft are not refueled over Bulgarian territory. However, the note raises the question that American aircraft, stationed at a Bulgarian airport, fly from north to south over the Aegean Sea and refuel military aircraft over the Mediterranean Sea, specifying which aircraft and what fuels are used. "There has been no clear answer to this question at the moment," the guest added.
"Our reaction, according to Minister Neynsky, is a request for a conversation with the director of the "Middle East and Africa" directorate, which does not actually cover Iran. Iran falls within the scope of the "Asia, Australia and Oceania" directorate, of which I have been director for 11 years. The meeting nevertheless took place and was with the director general for bilateral relations - an experienced diplomat who knows the region well. I understand that the main topic of this meeting was the obligations and commitments that the countries have, as well as the statements made regarding the American aircraft," the guest also shared.
