Spas Tashev to FACT: Serbia is the country with the largest number of conventional weapons in the Balkans (VIDEO) - 1

Currently, there are signed declarations, but this is possible to develop into a real military alliance. It was interesting to clarify the root cause, the idea of the alliance between Albania, Croatia and Kosovo, and on the other hand between Hungary and Serbia. Initially, information appeared that there is such an alliance between Albania, Kosovo and Croatia and almost Serbia and Hungary react post facto and they form such an alliance. He announced this to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACT“ and the show “Conversation“ economist Spas Tashev, an expert in international relations.

„When reviewing foreign publications and the analyses that were made in them, it turned out that in November 2024 the behavior of Serbia and Hungary was analyzed in the Greek media. Even then, the conclusion was made that in view of this future union between Serbia and Hungary, Croatia would look for options to seek its allies in the Balkans - countries that are like-minded. This finding largely confirmed what I had discussed with other observers. By the way, if we follow things chronologically, we will see that over the past 10 years Serbia has been constantly arming itself. Currently, Serbia is the country with the largest number of conventional weapons in the Balkans. This process has been worrying NATO for years, and in a number of reports Serbia has been cited as a factor that could destabilize the Balkans and could lead to conflict,“ added Spas Tashev.

“It was inexplicable to me why Serbia was pursuing such a policy, because I thought that as NATO members our national security was guaranteed as a state. There would be protection if, for example, Bulgaria were the object of Serbian aggression. However, now the processes in the world have gone in a different direction and this Euro-Atlantic space in the form it was in until the end of last year is no longer in Europe. I am not saying that Trump is hindering European values, but he does not want to engage on this scale with European security as previous American administrations did. We have a new situation in the Balkans that we must take into account,“ the guest also shared.
