The man accused of killing right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk appeared in court on Monday and his new legal team confirmed that they will request a preliminary hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to open a case, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
Tyler Robinson, 22, is accused of firing the shot that killed Kirk, a close ally of US President Donald Trump, on September 10.
Robinson was arrested after a 33-hour manhunt and prosecutors said they would seek the death penalty if convicted.
Robinson's court-appointed public defender, Catherine Nester, asked for the defense to be given time to review the evidence in the case, which the prosecution says are “volumetric”, and said it would likely take months. The court's next technical hearing was scheduled for October 30.
