North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said that Pyongyang has designated strategic assets to respond to the increasing US military presence in the south and that the country will develop additional military measures, the state news agency KCNA reported today, quoted by BTA.
"In direct proportion to the accumulation of US forces in Korea, our strategic interest in the region is also increasing, and we have accordingly designated special assets for key targets for us", Kim said at an event within the framework of a military exhibition ahead of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Workers' Party.
"I think our enemies should be concerned about the direction in which their security environment is developing", Kim noted. North Korea "will undoubtedly develop additional military measures" to prepare to respond to the increase in US forces, he added, without specifying what.
Pyongyang is strengthening its military ties with Russia and supporting Russian President Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine, sending troops and artillery, according to South Korean officials.
