During an informal meeting with CIS leaders in Dushanbe, Russian President Vladimir Putin joked that Tajik President Emomali Rahmon had left him hungry. Journalist Pavel Zarubin broadcast this excerpt on the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin“ on the “Russia 1“.
“Since yesterday evening, he has been keeping me hungry. I ask him: “Why are you keeping me hungry?“, said the Russian leader. Vladimir Putin specified that in response to this joke Rahmon suggested organizing a joint dinner the next day.
Putin arrived in Tajikistan on October 8 for a state visit. On Thursday, he held talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and participated in the second Central Asia-Russia summit. He also met separately with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. On Friday, the Russian leader participated in the CIS summit and held a bilateral meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
