Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that US efforts to mediate peace in Ukraine have been hampered by resistance from European leaders, MTI reports, Fokus reports.
During the plenary session of the Permanent Conference of the Hungarian Federation (MAERT) in Budapest, Orban noted that national policy is a serious challenge for any Hungarian government, with every word in this area carrying significant risk.
He pointed out that the issue of war and peace in Europe is of paramount importance, especially for the Hungarian community in the Carpathian Basin. “We are in a strange war. Europe, by its very definition, is at war. "European leaders are talking about the conflict between Russia and Ukraine as if it were their own war," Orbán said.
The prime minister stressed that if European leaders had not put up obstacles, the US president's efforts to achieve peace would have been successful and an agreement would have been reached between Russia, Ukraine, Europe and the US.
