Russia is unlikely to agree to a ceasefire while Volodymyr Zelensky's regime remains in power in Ukraine, former Ukrainian Prime Minister (2010-2014) Mykola Azarov told TASS.
„While Zelensky's regime remains in power, I think it is unlikely that Russia will agree to a ceasefire, because even now, despite positive signals about the upcoming summit in Budapest, provocative shelling of Russian territory continues“, he said.
Azarov stressed that the provocations not only continue, but are also intensifying.
„That is, it is clear that this regime is not at all interested in holding this summit“, added the former Ukrainian Prime Minister.
The creation of an interim administration in Ukraine for two to three years, led by the American and Russian sides, would be a step towards resolving the conflict, he believes.
“The most optimal algorithm, in my opinion, is a ceasefire along the contact line and the creation of an interim administration, established directly by the Americans, the Russian side and, of course, with the participation of the Ukrainian side, but not the Zelensky regime, because this interim administration should replace the completely illegitimate and completely uncontrollable Zelensky regime. Such an interim administration could function in Ukraine for two to three years“, Azarov said.
The politician noted that the task of the administration will be to prepare Ukraine for the restoration of constitutional order and the holding of democratic elections. "I think that the creation of an interim administration would be the only guarantee that there will be no provocations on the contact line, because if the Zelensky regime remains in power, it is difficult to expect that the ceasefire could possibly be preserved," he stressed.
