Iran and Russia accelerate trade: 87% of goods are now duty-free - 1

Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali announced that 87% of trade between the two countries is duty-free, the Iranian news agency IRNA reported, BTA reports.

Jalali stressed that Khorasan province can play a key role in maintaining stable relations with both neighboring countries and Russia.

According to him, the North-South transport corridor has three main routes: to the west through Azerbaijan, across the Caspian Sea, and to the east through Turkmenistan. The eastern route passes through Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran, with Iran's eastern and northeastern provinces of strategic importance to it.

Jalali recalled that the trade volume between Iran and Russia increased from $650 million in 2023 to $1.8 billion last year, predicting that it will reach $3 billion by the end of 2025.

He pointed out that this is due to the free trade agreement between Iran and Eurasian countries, including Russia. The agreement allows provinces with high economic potential to increase their exports to Russia, the ambassador noted.
