The number of foreign mercenaries in the Ukrainian Armed Forces has decreased. They've realized that what awaits them in Russia is “not a safari”, Lieutenant General Apti Alaudinov, deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces and commander of the “Akhmat” special forces unit of the Russian Defense Ministry, told TASS.

“I wouldn't say that we've seen many foreign mercenaries lately. First, the main forces of the mercenaries were concentrated in the Kursk region when they took over the region last year. A lot of forces and resources were prepared for this operation. Some of these forces included mercenaries from foreign countries – Poles, Germans, French, British, Americans – and who else was there. Most of these fighters were killed“, said Alaudinov.

He stressed that foreign mercenaries are afraid to fight in the Ukrainian armed forces for fear of their own lives. “I think some hot-headed people have cooled down a bit, realizing that we are not on a safari here and that coming here to shoot a few Russians and then go home alive is not a very viable option“, noted Alaudinov.
