On Saturday, the Nordwestzentrum shopping center in Frankfurt was evacuated after a shooting alert, Bild reported, quoted by FOKUS.
People were evacuated from the building after some visitors reported hearing gunshots.
A large police contingent was sent to the scene, and footage was shared on social media showing frightened people fleeing the area.
According to media reports, one person was detained in connection with the incident.
The police, for their part, reported a report of loud noises resembling gunshots, the cause of which is currently under investigation. However, according to authorities, the person detained by the police is not related to the loud noise. The detained person obstructed the work of law enforcement officers.
During the evacuation, shoppers left the mall through emergency exits. Some of them sought refuge in the nearby fire and rescue station.
Law enforcement officers continue to search the mall to determine the cause of the loud noises. Special forces are also involved in the operation.
Recently, in Germany, police accidentally wounded a Bundeswehr soldier during a training exercise.
In mid-October, three people were injured in a shooting in central Germany.
In southern Germany, several police cars responded to a report of a woman carrying a sword, DPA reports.
According to a police spokesman, the call to the emergency line sounded very alarming, so law enforcement officers immediately took the signal seriously and began searching for the allegedly armed woman in the area of the city of Neu-Ulm, Bavaria.
However, it later turned out that the alarm was false. It turned out that passersby had spotted two underage boys, one of whom was wearing a plastic sword as part of his Halloween costume.
Since the children were not breaking the law, the police allowed them to continue on their way without any consequences.
Previously, the police in Sweden appealed not to use fake weapons in Halloween costumes to avoid misunderstandings.
