At least 20 people have been killed and 18 injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck in the southern Indian state of Telangana, the Hindustan Times reported.
The bus, which was traveling to the state capital Hyderabad, was carrying about 70 passengers. The truck was carrying gravel. During the collision, it hit the bus with such force that some of the cargo spilled onto the vehicle, trapping the passengers.
Rescue services have arrived at the scene of the accident. Excavators have been used to extract the passengers.
According to preliminary data, the accident was caused by excessive speed and loss of control by the truck driver.
