One person has been killed and seven injured, including two children aged 2 and 5, in Russian attacks on Sumy region in northeastern Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) reported, quoted by the BBC, reports News.bg.

A drone strike in Trostyanets municipality damaged a two-story residential building, which caught fire. Rescue teams found the body of a man under the rubble, and his relatives - three women and two children - were taken to hospital with injuries.

The head of the Sumy regional administration, Oleg Grigorov, said that the damage was significant and affected both private homes and the power supply infrastructure.

On Sunday evening, Russian forces launched a missile strike on a village in Boromlyansk municipality, damaging several residential buildings and an infrastructure facility. A massive fire broke out in one of the private properties, which was brought under control by firefighters from the State Emergency Service.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force (UAS), on Monday night, Russia launched 138 drones and several types of ballistic missiles, including three Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal" aeroballistic missiles, four "Iskander-M" missiles and five S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles. According to the Ukrainian Air Defense, one "Dagger" and 114 drones were neutralized, but missile and drone hits were recorded in 11 settlements.

Sumy region, bordering Russia, remains one of the most frequently attacked in recent months. Despite the active work of air defense systems, Russian strikes continue to cause casualties and destruction in civilian areas.

Ukrainian authorities emphasize that all victims are civilians, and rescue operations and clearing of ruins continue.
