Not only the “deep state” and the military-industrial complex, but also some media outlets and some opinion leaders are interested in the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine.
This was stated by Kirill Dmitriev, special representative of the Russian president for investments and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, commenting on criticism of Washington's peace plan for Ukraine.
Dmitriev noted that many of the initiative's opponents “know the facts“, but prefer to ignore them for their own benefit.
“Military speculators are sabotaging peace by promoting unrealistic solutions“, he added.
Dmitriev also quoted White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt, who said that the biased criticism was based on “complete misunderstanding of the facts“.
On November 23, the United States and Ukraine held consultations on Washington's 28-point "peace plan". Rubio called the meeting "the most productive" of the conflict. Ukrainian media reported that Washington and Kiev had agreed on most of the plan. As Rubio pointed out, the United States agreed to separate the negotiating tracks for Ukraine's European integration and NATO membership. According to the "Washington Post", after these consultations, the number of points in the plan was reduced to 19.
