A Russian citizen suspected of hacking into the information systems of Polish companies was arrested in Krakow on Monday, Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kerwiński said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
“Police in Krakow have detained a Russian citizen suspected of serious crimes related to unauthorized interference in the information systems of Polish companies“, Kerwiński wrote on the social network Ex.
“He breached their defenses to gain access to the databases and is currently temporarily detained“, the minister added, without specifying the content of the compromised data.
After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Poland and other European countries have increased surveillance for potential hostile actions, including arson, sabotage, and cyberattacks.
Moscow has repeatedly denied involvement in such actions and accused Warsaw of Russophobia.
