German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius arrives today on an official visit to Romania, the government press service announced in a statement, BTA reports.
In the second half of the day, Pistorius will hold a meeting with Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bologianu at the 57th Air Base “Mihail Kogalniceanu“ near Constanta. The base is considered one of the key strategic points for the allied defense position on NATO's Eastern flank.
Among the main topics of the talks will be the security situation in the region, bilateral defense cooperation, as well as the joint contribution of the two countries to the Alliance's missions.
The meeting will also be attended by the acting Minister of Defense of Romania, Radu Miruca, and the State Secretary for Defense Policy, Planning and International Relations at the Ministry of National Defense, Sorin Dan Moldovan.
