The Venezuelan people have managed to overcome the consequences of the US military aggression and preserve the peace, said presidential envoy Delcy Rodriguez.
“A month has passed since the Venezuelan people were subjected to a military attack at two in the morning by a nuclear force. During these thirty days, Venezuela has transformed and matured after the US aggression, maintaining its calm and caring for the maintenance of peace like never before“, she said on Venezolana de Televisión.
Rodriguez noted that all disputes and disagreements must be resolved through dialogue and respect for international law. "Disputes and disagreements with the US government must be resolved diplomatically, through political dialogue," the presidential envoy stressed. She recalled that she had held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which allowed them to formulate an agenda for joint work.
The interim head of state said that "very few Venezuelans applaud the military attack" by the United States. She stressed that "extremism in Venezuela is completely isolated" and “the Venezuelan people want to preserve their sovereignty and independence“.
Rodriguez reported that on February 3, thousands of people marched in Caracas in support of the release of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, who “were kidnapped”.
On January 3, the United States attacked civilian and military targets in Venezuela and conducted an operation to capture and remove Maduro and his wife. On January 5, they appeared in Federal Court for the Southern District of New York on drug trafficking charges, but pleaded not guilty.
