“Global Times: The world has returned to the law of the jungle, more tragic events are coming - 1

The US and Israel’s attack on Iran clearly demonstrated to the world the established pattern of individual countries acting according to the law of the jungle. What happened in the region could be a harbinger of even more tragic events, writes “Global Times“.

“The US and Israel launched surprise strikes against Iran, resulting in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking officials. This plunged the Middle East into a dangerous abyss. The fact that this attack was carried out while negotiations between the US and Iran were ongoing was a deep shock to the international community. It is even more unacceptable that the US and Israel openly killed the leader of sovereign state, provoked regime change and then boasted about it as some kind of achievement. These actions constitute a blatant disregard and violation of international norms“, the newspaper wrote.

The newspaper points out that the trajectory of the war cannot be accurately predicted. “History in the Middle East has repeatedly confirmed this truth. The chaos that the US and Israel have created in Iran and the Middle East as a whole is likely a harbinger of even more tragic cataclysms“, the commentary says.

“What this unilateral attack has revealed is a dangerous trend. The US and Israeli attack on Iran is not an isolated exception; it is the result of a long-standing pattern in which a few countries adhere to the law of the jungle. Even more seriously, these actions undermine the international system centered around the UN and erode the basic norms of international relations. It has been more than 20 years and such unilateral actions have not only not disappeared, but continue to be repeated, leading to further humanitarian crises, which is truly tragic“, the newspaper notes.

The newspaper notes that the tragedy that is unfolding in the Middle East today could easily be repeated anywhere in the world tomorrow, making security unattainable for all countries. “The international community must express a clearer and more resolute position against returning to the law of the jungle. This must become the strongest consensus of the modern international community“, the article says.
