Kremlin calls claims that Russia is sending drones to Iran "media lies" - 1

The Kremlin reacted today to a publication in the “Financial Times“, which claims that Russia is sending drones to Iran. According to the Russian side, the publication is spreading a lot of false information and urged people not to trust it, Reuters reports, quoted by BTA.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also described as inaccurate the claims in an article in the “New York Times“, according to which President Vladimir Putin has lost interest in peace talks over Ukraine. At the same time, he stressed that a number of key issues, including territorial ones, have not yet been resolved.

Peskov called “completely false fabrications“ and the allegations that back in February Russia was close to a peace agreement with Ukraine, but ended its interest after the start of military actions by the US and Israel against Iran, according to TASS.

He specified that during several rounds of trilateral negotiations some progress had been made towards resolving the conflict, but the most essential issues important to the Russian side had not been agreed upon. Among them, he pointed out the territorial issue.

According to him, topics such as territories remain the main subject of discussion, with no progress made so far. However, Russia continues to express readiness and interest in further negotiations.

The speaker also announced that a Russian parliamentary delegation was in the US in order to assist the process of “restoration“ of relations between Moscow and Washington, reports Agence France-Presse.

Peskov expressed hope that these first steps would contribute to the continued improvement of bilateral cooperation, stressing that this would be in the interests of both sides. He specified that the participants had received instructions from President Vladimir Putin.

He recalled that according to the Russian constitution, foreign policy is determined by the head of state, which is why all necessary instructions had been given to the delegation.

Peskov added that the president would be informed in detail about the results of the talks that will be held in the United States.

In conclusion, the Kremlin spokesman also commented on the situation around Ukraine, stating that the “Kiev regime“ uses energy infrastructure as a tool for pressure against EU countries, as well as that it is trying to exercise threats and blackmail against other countries.

He added that, according to the Russian side, there is a risk that the Ukrainian side will also use EU and NATO countries for its own purposes, including in the context of cases with drones in the Baltic states.

Peskov said that the Russian military and relevant services are closely monitoring all circumstances related to the launch of Ukrainian drones.

In summary, he stressed that the necessary measures are being taken and that Russia continues military actions in order to limit the Ukrainian side's ability to carry out such actions.
