Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz from Saturday night until the US naval blockade is fully lifted, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced.
“Due to the violation of the ceasefire agreement, as the enemy, the United States, has not lifted the naval blockade of Iranian ships and ports, the Strait of Hormuz will be closed from today until the blockade is lifted“, the statement said.
The IRGC called on shipowners to strictly follow the recommendations of the Iranian side and described US President Donald Trump's statements on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz as “unreliable“.
“We warn that no ship of any type should leave its berths in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, and approaching the Strait of Hormuz will be considered cooperation with the enemy, and ships violating these rules will be pursued“, the IRGC Navy added.
