US President Donald Trump admitted that Washington could reduce the number of military contingents deployed abroad, not only in Germany, but also in Italy and Spain.
Reporters at the White House asked Trump if he could consider this issue against the background of criticism of Italy and Spain. “Yes, maybe“, he replied.
“Look, why not? Italy has not helped us at all, and Spain is absolutely terrible, absolutely terrible“, added the American leader.
US President Donald Trump said that European NATO members had “created a mess“ in Ukraine.
He criticized the European members of the North Atlantic Alliance for their lack of support for the US military operation against Iran. “We helped them with Ukraine. They created a mess there, a complete mess“, said the American leader. “Ukraine has nothing to do with the US, we are separated by an ocean. But this concerns the Europeans“, added the American president.
The American leader noted that his predecessor Joe Biden “gave Ukraine $350 billion“. “This is madness. This is one of the reasons why the conflict continues,“ the American president stressed.
Trump again accused NATO of not wanting to help Washington in its military operation against the Islamic Republic. “We received absolutely no help from NATO. Other countries had to do that,“ he said.
The United States will remember that the European NATO member states did not come to their aid in the military operation against Iran, Trump noted.
“They were not there when we needed them. We have to remember that," the US head of state said.
The US leader acknowledged that the situation could happen again "if there ever was a major conflict."
Trump said that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had no arguments in their argument about a war between the US and Israel with Iran.
"And he criticized me for all this stuff about Iran. And I asked him, "Would you like to see Iran get nuclear weapons?" He said, "No." I said, "Well, then I guess I'm right." He didn't have an answer for that," the US leader told reporters at the White House, commenting on his debate with his German counterpart. The US president did not provide any further details about the conversation.
Trump is convinced that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz "did a terrible job."
"He has problems with immigration, he has problems with energy, he has problems of all kinds," the president said.
"And he has a big problem with Ukraine, because they are in this mess," the American leader added.
