The German newspaper BILD writes that Ukraine may repeat the fate of Germany after the end of the Second World War, when the country was divided into two parts.
In this way, the publication comments on another article – in Italy's La Repubblica, stating that NATO is discussing an emergency decision. Namely, immediate acceptance of Ukraine, but in return Kiev must give up the occupied territories.
BILD quoted NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg as saying that the only way to a lasting peace in Ukraine is to guarantee military power to the Armed Forces of Ukraine so that Putin understands that he cannot defeat Ukraine in battle field.
These words "do not contradict the plan for separation and immediate NATO membership". After the end of World War II, Germany was similarly divided. The GDR was created in the Soviet occupation zone, which existed until 1990. Subsequently, the unification of Germany was reached.
It is important to note that as of today, Ukraine considers it inadmissible to give up the territories occupied by the Russian aggressor. Moscow owns nearly 1/5 of Ukrainian land. Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that negotiations with Putin can only take place after the withdrawal of Russian troops from these lands. The Kremlin, for its part, points out that this is not a realistic scenario and negotiations can only take place if Putin's conditions are met.
There is no confirmation from NATO that there have been talks about the division of Ukraine. Such a nightmarish scenario would practically legitimize Putin's aggression and mean that any country could forcefully violate international treaties and tear off its neighbor's territory without consequences.
