The head of the Ministry of Defense cited other “signs” that Iran is a threat to European countries. “French citizens are still being held hostage in Iran, which is developing a nuclear program that poses a proliferation risk. “Last Saturday, Iran took another step by attacking Israeli territory”, Lecornu said.
French citizens Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris were detained in Iran in May 2022. The Iranian Ministry of Intelligence accused them of trying to organize riots during protests by teachers who took to the streets to demand higher wages.
