The Israeli army said that its soldiers shot dead two Palestinians who today tried to shoot at them and attack them with knives in the occupied West Bank, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that both men had died, the agency added.
"One of the terrorists tried to stab IDF soldiers who were in the area, and they returned fire and neutralized him,", the Israeli military said.
"At the same time, the other terrorist opened fire on the soldiers, who responded by firing live ammunition and neutralized him as well."
A Reuters operator saw a body at the scene of the accident - an intersection near the Palestinian city of Hebron.
The official Palestinian news agency Wafa, citing local sources, said Israeli forces shot dead the two men near the West Bank city of Hebron, and ambulance crews were prevented from reaching them.
Palestinian security sources told Wafa that the two men, aged 18 and 19, had died and that they were still unable to retrieve their bodies.
Violence in the West Bank, which increased even before a war between Israel and "Hamas" in Gaza, has since escalated with frequent army raids against militant groups, Jewish settler atrocities in Palestinian villages, and Palestinian street attacks.
On Saturday, Israeli forces killed 14 Palestinians during an operation in the West Bank, and an ambulance driver was killed after trying to pick up wounded from a separate attack by aggressive Jewish settlers, Palestinian officials said.
