The Yemeni president and chairman of the Council, Rashad Muhammad al-Alimi, received the US ambassador to Yemen Stephen Feigin, the Yemeni SABA news agency reported.
The two discussed US-Yemen cooperation, the latest developments in Yemen at the regional and international level, and ways to coordinate to achieve common positions.
During the meeting, Houthi attacks on ships and international sea lanes were discussed, as well as the catastrophic impact on the living conditions of the Yemeni people and the Yemeni and regional economy.
The Yemeni president told the US ambassador about the consequences of the Houthi terrorist atrocities related to the violation of human rights and the persistence of the rebels to sabotage the chances of peace brokered by Saudi Arabia and the UN Special Envoy to Yemen. He also noted the delay in the payment of salaries to civil servants in the militant-held regions, in addition to the escalation of Houthi military operations on various front lines, the years-long siege of Tays and the recruitment of child fighters into camps.
The President stated that the priority should be to support the government in economic, financial and administrative reforms in order to fulfill the commitments.
