A North Korean delegation led by a high-ranking representative in the field of foreign trade will visit Iran, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA. citing North Korean media.
Reuters notes that this is a rare example of an announcement regarding cooperation between the two countries, which are believed to have secret military ties.
The North Korean delegation left Pyongyang for Iran by plane, the North Korean news agency KCTA reported.
North Korea and Iran have long been suspected of cooperating in the development of ballistic missiles, possibly exchanging technical expertise and components needed in that production.
Reuters reported in February that Iran had supplied a large number of ballistic missiles to Russia for use in its war against Ukraine.
North Korea is also suspected of supplying Russia with missiles and artillery, although both sides deny these claims.
Reuters notes that according to the South Korean government, the North Korean representative who is leading the delegation visiting Iran has in the past developed the DPRK's relations with Syria. According to KCTA, earlier this month the same representative headed a delegation that visited Moscow.
