In a statement dated April 13, the movement "Hamas" announced that it had submitted to Egyptian and Qatari mediators its response to the proposed truce with Israel in the Gaza Strip, calling for a permanent ceasefire.
Without explicitly rejecting the content of the proposed truce, "Hamas" reaffirmed its demands, namely a "permanent cease-fire", withdrawal of the Israeli army "from the entire Gaza Strip", "return of the displaced people to their areas and homes" and "increasing humanitarian aid" entering Gaza.
Israel has mostly opposed a permanent ceasefire, insisting instead on a few weeks' pause in fighting before launching a ground operation in Rafah, for example. He also refuses to withdraw from the entire territory.
The counter-proposal, details of which have not been released, coincided with the arrival of an Egyptian delegation in Israel yesterday to try to resume talks on a Gaza ceasefire tied to the release of the hostages.
