Four women presenters < span>in the BBC television , lawsuits have started against the corporation on the grounds of gender and age discrimination and equal pay, BNR reported.

Martin Croxall, Anita McVeigh, Karin Giannone and Cassia Madera appeared at a two-day employment tribunal hearing against the corporation in central London. They claim they lost their roles on the BBC newschannel after a "rigged" staff recruitment.

The BBC, for its part, claims that the application process was "rigorous and fair".

The four ladies were news anchors on BBC television channels. In 2022, the corporation announced a proposed merger of its domestic and international news channels. The presenters claim that before the merger was announced, BBC channel manager Jess Bramar personally assureda four other main presenters - two men and two younger women - that their jobs are safe.

The four journalists' court documents specifically state that they were "subjected to a decided job application process in February 2023< span>one".
