The movement of ships through the Bosphorus has been restored in the southern direction after a temporary blockade due to a damaged ship in the northern part of the strait. This was announced by the General Directorate of the Turkish Coast Guard on its X page (formerly Twitter).
„The previously suspended movement of ships along the Bosphorus from 08:00 has been restored in the direction from north to south”, the department announced.
Earlier, the department said that the 64-meter Cameroonian-flagged cargo ship Brabus suffered a steering gear failure near the northern entrance of the Bosphorus Strait while sailing from Trabzon to Bandera. Because of this, the Bosphorus was temporarily blocked.
The Brabus is currently being transported by tugboats to an anchorage in the Buyukdere area where it can carry out repairs and not interfere with marine traffic.
