The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Economic Relations of Hungary, Peter Szijártó, said that the strategy developed by Europe and the United States regarding the conflict in Ukraine has completely failed, he made this statement in one of the leading Japanese think tanks, Sasakawa Peace Foundation, reports TASS and Focus.
"The strategy that was developed by Europe and the US as a response and reaction to the war has failed completely”, assured Budapest's top diplomat, noting that such a view "contradicts the liberal mainstream in Europe” but is in compliance with the views of the "world majority”.
"When we discussed the first package [of sanctions] more than two years ago, I raised the question [what is the purpose of the restrictive measures]. The answer was: "Peter, the goals of the sanctions are as follows: to bring Russia to its knees economically and bring the war closer to the end. Is Russia on its knees? Far from it. Are we closer to the end of the war? "Definitely not", emphasized the minister.
At the same time, Szijjártó noted that the European economy has suffered from the sanctions, and Western European countries, which are "very proud to get rid of Russian energy resources”, are actually buying them indirectly.
