The media in North Macedonia inform about the decision of the Bulgarian government to instruct the acting Minister of Culture to investigate the possibility and start the procedure for the purchase of Dimitar Talev's native house in Prilep in a short period of time, BTA reported.

They quote the announcement of the government of Bulgaria, about the decision taken a year ago for this, and "Free Press" quotes the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of North Macedonia that so far they have not received an inquiry "on the initiative of the Bulgarian government to buy, restore and turn into a museum the native house of the writer Dimitar Talev in Prilep".

„The writer Dimitar Talev, a native of Prilep, was imprisoned in the post-war years on charges of spreading Great Bulgarian chauvinism, and after his release from prison in 1948, he went to Sofia, where he lived and wrote until his death in 1966 It occupies a special and significant place in Bulgarian literature, and 1998 was declared by UNESCO as the year of Dimitar Talev, because of his contribution to world culture,”, writes the publication, specifying that at the moment only the owner of 2/3 of the property has declared , that he wants to sell his share, and the other owner of the house “categorically refuses to sell his share to the Bulgarian state”.

„The Ministry of Culture (of the Republic of North Macedonia) is not competent in matters of the purchase and sale of real estate (the house of Dimitar Talev in Prilep), as it does not represent protected cultural heritage. If a letter is sent to the ministry about the mentioned house, depending on the questions raised, we will give an appropriate answer, from the point of view of the competence of the Ministry of Culture, "Svobna pressa" the answer received to the publication's inquiry to the Ministry of Culture in Skopje.

According to the publication, “if the property-legal relations surrounding the destroyed house of the writer Dimitar Talev are fully resolved, its reconstruction and eventual transformation into a museum should be the subject of an agreement between the two governments and the line ministries of culture”.

From “Free Press” recall that 10 years ago, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of North Macedonia in cooperation with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) renovated and turned into a museum dedicated to Kemal Atatürk, the birthplace of his father in the village of Kocadjik, Municipality of Zupa in North Macedonia. “The opening of this memorial house was one of the steps to strengthen Macedonian-Turkish friendship and cooperation”, the publication writes.
