The Deputy Director of the Center for Comprehensive and European Studies at the National research university “High School of Economics“ and a member of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy Dmitry Suslov suggested that Russia consider carrying out a non-combat nuclear explosion, 47news.ru reported.

On May 29, the magazine “Profil“ published an article by Suslov in which he recalled that the US and its allies could allow Kiev to use Western weapons against Russia. According to the expert, if a positive decision is made, it will bring the situation to a new level and mean the direct entry of the USA and NATO into a confrontation with Russia. In this case, writes Suslov, “the strikes will be carried out based on coordinates obtained from Western intelligence systems”.

The expert also noted that “in the West, an opinion has been formed: the cost of the defeat of Kiev is much greater than the risks of a direct military confrontation with Russia as a result of allowing the use of Western weapons to strike deep in her territory".

„This logic inevitably leads to a third world war,”, he believes.

Suslov said the catastrophe could be averted by “drastically stepping up Russia's policy of containment and intimidation”. According to him, Russia should, in addition to the current exercises on the use of tactical nuclear weapons, conduct exercises on the use of strategic nuclear forces and “consider conducting a demonstration (that is, not a combat) nuclear explosion”.

„The political and psychological effect of the nuclear sponge, which will be shown live on every television channel in the world, will hopefully bring back to Western politicians the only thing that has prevented wars between the great powers since 1945 and which they now seem to be losing - the fear of nuclear war, he concluded.
